Banner specification is driven by where it hangs. Indoor and exhibition work runs on fabric, which folds without creasing permanently and photographs without glare. Outdoor and long-term installation runs on vinyl or mesh, which handles weather and wind loading.
Mesh is specified where wind is the constraint — fencing, scaffolding and stadium perimeter — because it lets air through instead of acting as a sail.
